May Fiction: Precious (a poem)

The fiction prompt for May was “mother.”

Precious

Precious Poem jablog!I held him close,

His warmth colliding

Against my wintered skin.

A gorgeous cherub

Quietly born;

Little fingers curled around

Grabbing at the air

Unfeeling, unmoving.

Smiling, smiling

Stupidly at me,

Cold eyes shining

With the dead possibility of a future;

his lungs won’t fill

And his heart won’t start–

A precious cherub, quietly born.
