The fiction prompt for June was “sidewalks.”
Crossroads
Meet me at the intersection,
The crossroads of a decision.
This sidewalk we have walked since the beginning of time,
It has not aged well.
It is colourless, the periphery lacking the brilliant vibrancy of life once pouring from stores and flooding public spaces in rapid succession.
There is no such thing as a balance, as stability, as right and wrong.
Don’t be afraid now of pouncing
like a skipping stone across the horizon from one pond to the next,
from one walk of life to the next.
We weren’t meant to remain on the same paths for eternity,
you and I,
So meet me at the intersection,
the crossroads of a decision.
We can make it together.
