July Fiction: Rest (a poem)

by Tiffany Metty, Age 20, USA

Artwork by Katie King

The prompt of the month for July was “the hottest day.”

Rest - jaBlog!Rest

You hide your face in the hollow
between my shoulder and my head.
You leave it resting there.

I can feel your breath,
cooling air tickling my neck,
exposed and
lighter than when your fingertips
jellyfish-dance across my knee.

Drops of my sweat and
your breath marry on my skin.
The fan hums us a song
as we sleep the heat away,
lying intertwined.
